I Got A Lash Lift and It Was The Best Thing Ever!

Hey yalls, welcome, good day, hello

Let’s face it we all want fluttery thick eyelashes, or basically, look like a real-life Disney Princess. Don’t worry. It’s normal.

Eversince we discovered the ability to achieve those thicker eyelashes for even 2 months, WE DO IT. Yes, sure, we can achieve it by curling our eyelashes and applying 2-4 coats of mascara or putting on fake eyelashes. BUT we got lazy and ta-da – eye lash extensions! And let’s face it, some of us dont have the luxury of time to get ready in the morning. And if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably also contemplated getting lash extensions a thousand times.

But first, let’s get into the difference between eyelash lifting and eyelash extensions.

Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are used to enhance the length, volume, fullness, and thickness of your natural eyelashes. The extensions (tiny hairs) may be made from several materials including mink, synthetic, human or horsehair.  How? These semipermanent lashes are applied by a technician who hand-glues the extensions on top of your natural lashes. The lashes’ length, thickness and volume is customizable. With proper care (more on that later), they can last for six to eight weeks until they naturally fall out like your lashes usually do.

” But getting extensions can cause your natural lashes to fall too ” There’s not much evidence to say that getting extensions will cause your natural lashes to fall with the extensions. However, depending on the type of glue they use – it can cause alopecia- which is where your natural lashes can fall out as a result of the constant weight of repeated eyelash extensions. (EEEEK!)

Yes, after hearing this about getting eyelash extensions, I moved on to check out Eyelash Lifting. Let’s jump into this, shall we:

Eyelash Lifting

It’s like a perm for your eyelash! A lift is essentially what your lashes would look like with a really good eyelash curler, giving it a nice shape upward and a realistic curl. A good eyelash lift can last up to 2 months! (This sold me)

I have naturally pretty long eyelashes but I would always use my eyelash curler and apply mascara every day just to get it looking curly and upwards. Sometimes, eyelash and brows are the other things I do before I get ready for work.

They say “The eyes are the window to your soul”. Hence, people will be looking at your eyes first and foremost, and more often when conversing with you. Also, curling your eyelashes leaves your eyes looking fresh and open.

I was recommended to check out @beautystudio101 for eyelash lifting. I DM-ed them and (at the time) Adrianna, the technician extraordinaire herself helped with with any concerns and questions I had. She was very welcoming and she explained everything from the products to the process to the outcome that I wanted. On my first visit, I was super nervous. She reassured me and we spoke like two long lost friends! This is what I love about going to Adrianna for my lashes, it feels like home. The first time I saw my lashes after they were lifted, I was in AWE! I couldn’t believe those were my very own lashes! I was hooked! Since then, I have had my eyelashes lifted 3 times already!

I mean, check them babies out!

Before Eyelash Lifting                                          After Eyelash Lifting

At @beautystudio101 now located at Pinnacle, Petaling Jaya, the entire process only takes around 45minutes. Before you arrive for your appointment, you would need to remove any form of makeup and contact lens. The technician then applies a silicone mold or shield onto the eyelid using a non-toxic glue. (This is the only thing that touches the skin)

With the silicone mold on the eyelid, the technician then curls the lashes using the glue over the mold, which is curved upward and outward to create a curl. For people that are on vacation and they don’t want to do anything, then adding a tint can add extra depth and darkness. (I usually opt to add a tint on my lashes!).

Once each and every lash is applied onto the mold, they are separated and the perm solution is applied. This chemical would be applied to the root of the eyelashes. Depending on the thickness of your natural lashes, it can take 5 – 15 minutes to set. After this, the setting solution is applied (this is where the magic happens) – the lashes start to get curly. You can even customize depending on how much of a curl you want.

“Lash lifts are gloriously low maintenance.”

Once the process is done, you will need to wait 24 hours before getting it wet or applying any form of makeup on the lashes. After that, you do you girl and flaunt them lashes! My lash lifting usually last for about 2 months!

And if you’re not convinced – here are some pictures with mascara and without – after my lash lift (Gosh, I love them so much!)

After Lash Lifting (with makeup and one coat of mascara)

After Lash Lifting (with makeup and two coats of mascara) – this was after a friend’s wedding, it me being Indian

Will I do it again? Definitely! It is perfect for a busy bee and those going on vacations! I would highly recommend checking out @beautystudio101 for your lash lifting needs. I would only trust Adrianna’s magic hands with my lashes!

Have a great day, beautiful weirdos!
